With another school year upon us, many of us moms are planning and preparing – mentally and physically! You might wrestle with schooling decisions so I believe the key to your school year is to ANCHOR your heart in truth and remember your BIG why.
Why do you homeschool, momma?
Why do you choose public school?
Private school? Online learning?
What is an Anchor Verse?
As a believer in Christ, I choose a scripture verse each year to “anchor” my heart. I use this verse on the hard days. I use this verse on the long weeks. I use this verse in my morning prayer time to prepare my heart for the day.

Having this anchor verse has saved me many times!
God’s Word is life and when we feel that He has called us to make a certain decision, He will also encourage us through the truths of His Word.
Promises like:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 3:5-6
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Galations 6:9
These words can bring us back to life in an instant.
When a child is having a tantrum, or you have gone over that math problem for the 4,581 time. When your teen is ultra low on motivation, or everyone is just snippy.
Lean into the vine and repeat the verse to remind you that this choice is a calling. Parenting is a calling. We are not asked to raise our kids alone. God wants to strengthen you and fill you in the weakest of moments.
Let Him!
Where to Start?
Finding a verse to anchor your heart in truth requires only a bible and some quiet time. Sit with your favorite beverage and just ask God to give you a word that fits your families needs for the coming school year.
To help with ideas, you can get a book that has the many bible promises for Mothers here to begin your journey. Just read through and you will sense those promises that “speak” to you.
When a promise makes your heart leap, write it down. Pick a few to consider and continue to pray. You will soon settle on the right verse to anchor your heart in truth.

So, before jumping into the frenzy of the coming school year, spend some time in prayer specifically asking the Lord to give you a promise to carry you – and your kids – through. He is faithful to answer and will guide you in His Word to anchor your heart in truth.
