When November rolls around many of our hearts turn toward Thanksgiving. One tradition that helps many families focus on this season is Thankfulness Trees – growing in gratitude.
There are many fabulous ways to write down how many things you and your family are thankful for. Here are a few ideas that you can incorporate easily into your current family thanksgiving traditions.

Potted Thankful Tree
One collaborative family activity for a Thankfulness Tree was this potted one that fits great on a tabletop.
I printed, laminated, and cut out paper leaves on colorful papers. We then went around together as a family and came up with words of gratitude.
I wrote these items, people, and activities on the leaves that we were thankful for collectively, and hung them on some branches from the yard.

- Fall Colored Cardstock
- Laminator & Laminating pages (click the link to see the ones I use)
- Wet Erase Markers
- Twine
- Hole Punch
- Branches & twigs from the yard
- Pot of dirt
This was a perfect reminder of all God’s Blessings. The kids enjoyed hanging up the leaves and then seeing the daily reminder allowing them to grow in gratitude.

Evergreen Thankful Tree
One year we decided to put up our Christmas tree a bit early. (who else has Christmas lovers??)
We turned it into our Family Thankfulness Tree.
Each night all of us would write one thing they were thankful for on a slip of paper. I would then put all six notes into the plastic ornament and hang it on the tree.
At the end of just a few weeks, we had some pretty amazing things we all learned that we were thankful for.
We read them at Thanksgiving Dinner and reflected on the goodness of God.
