Changing leaves, crisp blue sky, hayrides, apple picking, and pumpkins! Is that what you think of when you hear the word “autumn?” My kids are always excited to hit the farm for apples and pumpkins, which is when I pull out my simple pumpkin crafts for fall!
Fall is one of the best seasons for our family. After the hot & busy summer months, that cool air is so refreshing, and getting outside feels better than ever!
For Family Fun head to this post.
Here are just a few simple crafts and activities that we do every. single. year. Because they are so FUN!!
Pumpkin Patch Treat
Heading to the pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect gourd is tons of fun!!
Since we often pick out our pumpkins early and we are not ready to carve them up just yet, we do other activities first. These Pumpkin Patch Pudding cups are perfect!
Who doesn’t like a simple, sweet, and fun FOOD activity? Pudding, oreo cookie, and mini pumpkin candy satisfy any kiddo. This one is such a simple pumpkin craft that the kids can put it together themselves.
Head on over to Janea’s site for the full breakdown. https://www.icanteachmychild.com/pumpkin-patch-dirt-cups/

Pumpkin Life Cycle
Hand’s on science is a super fun way to get the kids into any topic. For pumpkins, I love to pull out our life cycles.
Go and grab this printable from A to Z Teacher Stuff that has instructions and the mini life cycle pieces.
In this simple pumpkin craft, your kids get to see the growth of a pumpkin from seed to flower to full pumpkin. Here is the direct Pumpkin Lesson pdf
You can also add on a “What’s Inside a Pumpkin” activity here!!
Pumpkin Volcanos
Continuing with some simple pumpkin science, check out these volcanos! Once you have carved and emptied out that pumpkin you can add just a spoonful of baking soda. Then give the kids an eyedropper with vinegar. Let them add drops of the vinegar into the pumpkin and watch the “lava” flow!

Jack-o-lantern
Who doesn’t love to carve a pumpkin and pull out all that ooey gooey stuff inside? We don’t usually do anything elaborate here, but just the fun of carving a face and roasting the pumpkin seeds is what we enjoy.
There are some great sets to get you started or you can get creative with your own design and fun faces.
Holiday Celebrations
Every year we also approach the Halloween holiday.
I read to them the below book that I believe outlines the origins very well on a child’s level. This gives me the opportunity to discuss what we should and should not participate in while also having fun. Each family is unique, so use these resources as you see fit.
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
One of my family’s favorite movies is “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”
We seriously watch this like 60 times between September and December! Just one fun activity to add to the many other simple pumpkin crafts that you could choose from.
We also love baking pumpkin muffins, and one of my sons has his famous 5 ingredients, no-bake pumpkin pie! See how to get your kids involved in the kitchen here too.
