In the winter months or any time of year, making some simple pine cones covered in birdseed will attract all your feathered friends right to your yard.
Recently we made the most simple birdseed pine cones and they came out just stunning!
Nature. Birds. Chill in the air. I love it all!
Toss some birdseed in your yard and it will not be long before the birds come visiting.
We see cardinals, blue jays, little finches, sparrows, and adorable black-capped chickadees.
No matter the season…
Spring when the birds begin to emerge from the cold winter. Winter when all the little birdies were still flying all around the bare trees. Fall when colored leaves turn and the animals are beginning to stock up. Or summer when the beauty of color and song fill the mornings before the world wakes up.
Every season is a great time to make a Simple Birdseed Pine Cone!
We had a leftover bag of birdseed recently so small bird feeders seemed like a great way to get the kids into a hands-on activity.
This simple activity takes just a few minutes with a little beforehand preparation.

Simply grab some pine cones, peanut butter, and birdseed. Tie a string on the top of your pine cone first.
Use a small knife or popsicle stick (they are handy for so many projects) and smear the peanut butter onto the cone.
Have your kids dip the pinecone into the birdseed and voila!
A stunningly simple birdseed pinecone to hang on your outdoor trees for your feathered friends.
