I’ve used many different devotionals in my journey and some I enjoyed more than others.
The key is finding the right devotional.
It helps them begin to look at God’s Word as a life application resource when they have an appropriate children’s devotional book to guide them.

It is written in the perfect tone and level for preschoolers to have a lot of interest. To be honest, the simplicity often speaks to me too!

Our little humans will face all kinds of adversity on their level just like you and me and knowing that God is Jehovah Jirah – The Lord my Provider, or El Shaddai – God of Heaven equips them to hold on to a tangible God.
Grace for the Moment – Max Lucado
This daily devotional delivers hope and grace to the young readers. With great stories of our Maker, you can read Grace for the Moment together and discuss the simple and perfect topics. Because of its simplicity, this is also a great stepping stone devotional for kids who have good reading skills to begin reading on their own.
Old Story New / Long Story Short
These 2 devotionals are simply terrific!! Even though I am grouping them into one of my top kids’ devotionals, they could be their own! If you like a clean, easy plan to follow in leading your kids in devotional time, these are perfect.
Within each of these, you will get a walk through the Old Testament- Long Story Short, and New testament – Old Story New with a 5-day plan for each portion of scripture. There are questions that build on the weekly lesson to help kids put it all together. You can take 5 minutes or 20 minutes depending on the interest of your kids.
Jesus Calling
This Jesus Calling devotional has a theme of peace throughout. It really speaks to kids as they are growing and facing more situations where they learn to depend on God. With easy reading and a scriptureverse on each days devotional, kids begin to hear God speak truth to them through His Word.
