Every year I put together a group of subjects that we will study together. Check out this year’s Family Style Homeschool Curriculum for 2021-2022.
Many families find it is a great opportunity to learn and grow together by studying several subjects together.
There are so many incredible things to include: the Bible, history, science, missions, geography, hymns, civics, Christmas traditions, and more.
For this upcoming year, we will be focusing on some old history and discovering the world around us to dig into science topics.
We usually include most of our family style homeschool curriculum in our morning Circle Time while we are already joined together.

HISTORY
Mystery of History, Volume 1 – Creation to the Resurrection.
This year for History we are going back to the beginning and studying Ancient History. Creation, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Mesopotamia from when it all began.
We will be using one of my favorite history curriculums to guide us through this time period of old. Mystery of History, Volume 1 includes all of the Biblical people and events that were instrumental at the beginnings of the world nations and people groups.
This year we will create simple timeline notebooks that we can add to over the coming years. I have never had my kids create one on their own, so this will be a fun addition to our history binders. MOH makes it easy too by presenting dates and events in chronological order.

We will also have on hand some of these resources for illustrations, maps, and locations.
I am really looking forward to rediscovering this time period of the Ancient World.
SCIENCE
God’s Design Series, by Master Books
This year our science will include the Classification of Living Things, animal & plant cells, leaves, plants, layers of the earth, rocks & minerals, mountains, volcanos, weather, and clouds. PHEW! That will be a lot of ground to cover, but not with the incredible God’s Design Series, by Master Books.
We will use 2 of these combo editions – God’s Design for Life and God’s Design for Heaven & Earth. They each contain 3 units (for a total of 6 total) but we will only complete 3 units.
This curriculum has very short but packed lessons that can be read in 15 minutes or less. They also have practical hands-on activities that can be completed with what you have on hand at home. It is also written from a Christian Worldview so it reinforces biblical accounts of creation and life.
We will continue to complete our Nature Notebooks with some of the information and materials that we learn from these lessons.

We will wrap up the year with a fun Marine Biology study to launch into summer. This is a great way to keep the learning going into the summer. I will leave out some books from our Ocean Unit Study bag and several shells, starfish, and sand dollars to discover. We will also use my fun Beach Scavenger Hunt!

APOLOGETICS
This school year I felt led to include a greater focus on Christian apologetics. Giving my kids a solid foundation of why they can trust the Bible is necessary for them to discern the culture they are growing up in. Lee Strobel’s Case for Christ For Kids is as great as the Adult book. He lays out clearly why Jesus is God.
The author for Cold-Case Christianity for Kids and God’s Crime Scene for Kids is a former detective. He makes these books super fun by having a real life “case” to be solved in each of the books and uses them as illustrations to affirm the authenticity of faith and creation. These books are great for all kids, but boys especially will enjoy them.
These are just a few books we wil use in our Circle Time to create conversation and deeper discussions.
– –These will be our primary family style homeschool curriculum for 2020-2021.
We always weave in a few other things along the way, but having a plan and all of my resources available make the execution that much smoother.
What do you like to include in family style learning? I’d love to hear in the comments.
Best,
