Are you finding it harder and harder to make time to read your Bible? Then you absolutely must implement these 6 keys to read the Bible daily!
First of all, we know that as believers it is vital to read God’s Word daily. You can read all about this in FAR greater detail in my post Why Reading God’s Word Daily is Vital – The Ultimate Guide.
Once we have an understanding of the value of reading our Bible daily we can begin to implement some simple strategies to DO IT!
6 Keys to Read the Bible Daily
This is the simple and practical list to “read” the Bible Daily.
I am putting “read” in quotation marks here because there are some pretty amazing tools that we have in our age of technology to help us. We no longer need to sit and read our paper Bibles (though I fully prefer that), but we have more options.
Here are 6 key ways to insert God’s Word into your daily routine:
- Follow a daily reading plan, use it as the bookmark for your bible
- Read a Proverb or a Psalm at breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
- Hang verses on your bedroom or bathroom mirror with sticky notes (Grab this FREE printable).
- Write weekly memory verses on an index card and carry it with you
- Before reading social media each day determine to open a bible app first. A couple of my favorites are: BibleGateway or BlueLetterBible or YouVersion
- Make a family bible reading time each day
I know you will agree that these 6 Keys to Read the Bible Daily are easily attainable goals we can implement.
Let me share with you the how of some of these keys to get you started TODAY!
1. Daily Reading Plan
“Where do I begin?” This is one of the most common questions. The Bible is a BIG book so we all need some direction to get started.
Choosing a daily Bible reading plan is extremely helpful. Start with a reading plan like this one from Crossway or head to your favorite Bible app to begin one online (see number 6. below too)
2. Mealtime Wisdom
Have you ever noticed that there are 31 chapters in the Book of Proverbs? This makes it extremely easy to open a bible and read one Proverb each day for each month. They are each a reasonable length and could easily be read and pondered over lunch or any meal.
If you do this daily, you will begin gaining incredible wisdom for decisions and insight for daily living.
3. Bible Verses All Around
Using sticky notes to surround yourself with your favorite Bible promises and verses of encouragement is perfect.
You can write out “I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4:13) on a post-it and put it on your bathroom mirror as a constant reminder.
Grab those great verses that jump out to you in the book of Proverbs and put them on your computer. Any verse, anywhere will help focus your heart throughout the day.
Below are some pretty ones that you can order.
4. Memory Verses
Memorizing verses in the Bible helps us to “read” and recall God’s Word when there is no other source around. You can memorize the Bible by choosing verses that encourage or challenge you. Journaling is the best way to begin memorizing Bible verses. I have outlined all the best tools for journaling HERE so check that post out.
Another great memory verse tip is to write them on an index card to carry with you. I love to use them as bookmarks too.
When you read a verse that speaks to you, you can use the SOAP method to help with memorization. This simple method works as follows:
S – Write the Scripture out
O – Write the verse in your Own words
A – Write how is Applies to you today
P – Say or write out a Prayer that connects you to the verse.

5. Bible Apps
Using a Bible App helps you read or listen on the go. When you are on an appointment or at the office, when you get stuck in traffic or even making dinner at home, you can easily put on the Bible App.
A couple of my favorites are: BibleGateway or BlueLetterBible or YouVersion. All of these have great tools to listen, take notes, and compare translations. Download one today and begin Bible reading at your fingertips.
6. Family Reading Time
If you have children then this is a great way for ALL of you to read the Bible daily. You can do this first thing in the morning or at dinner time. Reading a portion of the Bible together will also bring connection and fabulous conversation starters.
Getting a family devotional helps with this also and teaches your kids amazing life skills and the habit of daily Bible reading.
